Audio CD VS MP3

For the portability, of course I like MP3 much much better than Audio CD.
But for particular reason and condition, sometimes Audio CD is better than MP3.

There is a hole in my hand gloves

I use it since about 2007 until now. On 2007 and 2008, I rarely used it because I had another gloves. I use it often on 2009 until now.

Even though there is a hole, this gloves look cool:

Pianica (Melodica)

In this post, I want to introduce a musical instrument named "Pianica" or "Melodica".

Actually, this thing is not rare in my country (Indonesia). But in USA, it is very rare. My friend, Mrs. Busch (former music teacher for elementary school), already bought it from the internet. Then, she let me borrowed it so I could have fun.

So, Melodica is just like "mini-keyboard". But, we have to blow it:

Usually, the left hand hold the melodica, and the right hand play the keys.

Though, we could also play it both hand if we want to (but, we have to lay it down on the table).

And how does it sound? It sound like Accordion. You could see and hear it your self:

Dual Monitor

When my friend gave his monitor for me, I use it for the second monitor of my laptops. So, I open the important stuff in my laptop's monitor, and not-so-important stuff (such as chatting) in my second monitor.

Sometimes, it is really helpful. You could try it also :P

Indonesian Coins

Some of you maybe already know that I am from Indonesia. But now, I stay in USA with my parents and brother.

One day, I sent some stuff from here to my aunt and my grandmother in Indonesia. The customer service at post office is a coin collector. So, he asked me that he would also like to collect Indonesian coins.

Then, I tell my aunt to send some Indonesian coins to me, so I could give them to him.

So, I want to show some of the coins to you.

Today, 1 US dollar (USD) is equal to 9300 IDR (Indonesia Rupiah).

But, to make it easier, just pretend 1 USD = 10000 IDR

50 IDR (equal to half US cent)

100 IDR (equal to a penny)

Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), is the most thing that I don't like in USA. It is really make me shock every time the electric shock happen.

Does anybody knows why ESD happen a lot in the winter? What is the connection between weather and ESD? And, is there anyway to prevent it?

Full Moon

For the last few day, it was easy for me to see the full moon. It was beautiful, especially because I could captured it easily with my camera. The sky was also clear.

(Sometimes, it is difficult for the camera to take the object at very low intensity of light, such in the night time. I think only DSLR camera could do that).

Harp

I think, harp is the rare musical instrument. Because, I only saw it on TV or internet before. I never touch it until I came to my friend home, Mrs. Laura.

If you already have musical background, it will help you to play harp because that harp is in the key of C (though could be transposed to the key of F and G). Everybody could play at C, right? But if you want to play chord or faster song, a lot of practice would be needed.

Even though I could play guitar, I still need to build my sense and feeling so I could memorize all the strings tone and predict the position. Guitar only has six strings, but harp has many strings.

Anyway, it was fun to play harp. I wish I could have one sometimes.

And the funny thing was, when I put that photo in my Facebook profile picture, all of my friend thought that I could play harp.

I cut my finger

I accidentally cut my finger few day ago.

That is mean I cannot let the finger wet. It makes me need some effort to do "wet things" such as take a bath, brushed my teeth, and wash the dishes. Fortunately, I could still update my blog.

So, better be careful next time :D

One Question About Camera's Flash

This is my camera. I've used it since 2007. Although I am not professional photographer, but I still have a question: When the flash in the camera need to be replaced?

Or maybe it is immortal?

(then it would be a good idea if we replace all of our home bulb with camera's flash, because it will never die :D )

"Rice Cookie"

In my church (Hartford United Methodist), we have coffee hour.

If you don't know what is "coffee hour" mean, it is a little snack time after worship at the church's dining room. Maybe it is more like social hour because not only we get food, also we could have some conversation with the community.

Sometimes, there could be a lot of food for some special events. It could also be "brunch" (abbreviation from "breakfast-lunch").

On the last Sunday, Bonita became host for coffee hour. My mom helped her.

My mom made some Indonesian food, LONTONG (that is filled by meat).

What is Lontong? It is made by rice. The rice is boiled for about 2 hours. (for the cooking stuff, my mom knows better than me. So, ask her if you want to know the detail).

But, let take the closer look to at it:

The wrapper is made from banana leaves (so be careful, don't eat them!)

This is the inside of Lontong.

And, what was the reaction of our friend? Fortunately, they seems to be curious and took some Lontong, even though they never know this food before.

Some of them said that this food is similar to a Mexican food (I forget the name).

And the funny thing was, they called this food "Rice Cookie". Hahaha... Lontong got a new name!

Dollar General Tape

I wanted to send letter to somebody. I thought it would be better to use tape to seal the envelope. Although the envelope has it own sticky sealer that activated by water, but sometimes it does not strong enough.

So, I went to Dollar General to buy a tape, and I found this one:

The funny thing about this tape, it has Dollar General logo:

This is the first time I see the store logo on a tape.

Silent Hospitals Help Healing

On last Thursday, Pastor Ron asked me to accompany him to go to some places. One of them was Lakeland Hospital. Pastor wanted to see his friend.

While I was in the waiting room, I saw this notification:

Maybe this is new notice. But, too bad for me, it could also mean that I should not bring my little acoustic guitar there. In September 2009, when I visited my friend, I brought it so I could sing some Christian song that could strengthen her.

I think it is true that silence helps healing. When we get sick, we need to calm our mind especially when we get difficult sickness. But for me, I also need some "noise". I need encouraging sermons and Christian praise music to fight back against the diseases.

Salmon Sandwich

This is my daily lunch. My mom make it for me. You could call it "Salmon Sandwich", because my mom put salmon fillet there. Mom also put a little bit vegetable.

In this photo, I got special bread from my church food pantry. It is like Subway bread (Subway is my favorite fast food restaurant).

Anyway, the bread should be whole wheat or whole grain, because I think they are healthier than white bread.

I also get salad for appetizer. Sometimes, I will show you.
